Favorite Go Game Story

Engagment story. For his birthday in 2008, Kevin Cheng wanted to add an extra special surprise for his friends and family. Kevin selected which players would be on which teams for his game, and included his girlfriend, Coley, and a few of his very best friends on his own team.

After a fun and hilarious day of romping around San Francisco's Haight neighborhood, Kevin and Coley's team received a one-of-a-kind mission:

Happily ever after: We're suckers for romance movies. The final moment is the best: when the handsome hero sweeps the beautiful girl up in his arms and carries her off into the sunset. But what if just once, she hit him in the kisser with a pie? Or decided HE preferred Ramon, the pool boy? You're going to take advantage of the beautiful surroundings at The Sword and The Rose to make a 20-second romantic film... with a twist ending. Use the fancy accommodations, the flora, any of the scenic locations all around you, and remember your video will have no sound. You will find a true bard who is waiting on location at The Rose and the Sword on 85 Carl St between Clayton and Cole to provide the soundtrack (to help set the mood), but he's expensive and he won't start playing until you've begun recording! You will find him in the garden. Start brainstorming as you walk over there and enter the video number and some text when you've got it!

As they walked to the specified location, the players worked out a script for their video that began with Kevin and Coley in a passionate embrace - until Kevin spotted a cute dude across the garden and ditched his lady for a man! A very San Francisco movie. But the real twist ending was for Coley, because when they got to the point in the story when Kevin is supposed to leave her, he instead got down on one knee and pulled the biggest diamond ring you've ever seen out of his pocket and proposed! And of course we got it all on tape! Congratualtions to Kevin and Coley! The moral of the story is that The Go Game not only makes for the best birthdays of all time, but it works pretty well for engagements too. We just can't wait for our first wedding Go Game!
